Who Will Be The Next World Champion??
It's getting close to the 3rd Annual Hezza Slaya World Championship, which is being held in Walpole, WA on March 14th and 15th!!
It's looking like this year will be our biggest by far, and we are predicting over 100 competitors all fighting for the World Championship! We have news that both previous World Champs (Ron from 2023 and Troy from 2024) will be there to defend the title, along with some hard-hitting Hezza Gangsters traveling from far & wide to get into the action and give them a run for their money! 1 big Hezza is all it takes!
If you still haven't booked accommodation in Walpole for the weekend, we suggest getting onto it asap as Coalmine Beach Holiday Park is almost booked out (ring them to book and quote "Hezza" for our group discount - Ph 08 9840 1026). There are other accommodation options around Walpole at Rest Point Holiday Park and Walpole House Boats etc.
With hopefully over 100 competitors and "winner takes all entry money", it could mean over $1000 in cash up for grabs for the Champ! This year we have also had a few sponsors and OldMate supporters jump on board to donate some epic prizes to go towards a couple of new categories.

The first two new categories are a Junior (under 16yrs) and Adult (16yrs & over) Mystery Weights. We found in previous years that some people were reluctant to weigh in fish once they knew a large Hezza was already in the running for the World Championship, so we have put together these new categories to get everyone involved in the competition and have a chance to take home some epic prizes!
And the third new prize category will be a Best Photo/Video Prize. This is something we are hoping everyone will give a crack and send us in photos or short video clips throughout the competition. Kel & I will judge our favourite submission prior to prize presentations and the winner will be announced with the other prizes. This is a way we can get us all as a group involved for some funny content that we can add to our video for the weekend as we are not able to be everywhere at once. We have set up a WhatsApp Community for the photos and videos to be sent to so we will get your mobile phone number at registration, invite you to the community, and help get you set up if needed. Alternatively, you will be able to submit your photos and videos via email if you do not have WhatsApp.
On top of our rules for each category, please be aware that all usual state boating and fishing rules apply. Fisheries and Marine Safety visit these areas regularly and were both around last year, so make sure your fishing licenses and vessels are in order. Each year we get a small run of stickers made for the event. We've already put a shout-out on social media and a lot have been claimed but we still have plenty and we will have whatever is left up for grabs at the event. If you don't want to miss out and haven't let us know through Facebook already, just flick us an email - trekcamphunt@oldmateadventures.au and we'll put yours aside to pay/pick up upon registration at the event.
We will have a range of handmade Hezza Rigs, Lazer Lures, and Whiting Rigs as well as OldMate/Pink Ribbon Fishin' merch available for purchase during the weekend. You can also order from our website prior and we can package and deliver at the comp. We'll refund all postage costs, just leave us a note at checkout in your order.
